Dino Melaye, lawmaker wey dey represent Kogi west, don ask the senate say make den override President Muhammadu Buhari on the bill wey den pass to establish Peace Corps of Nigeria.
The national assembly don pass the bill but Buhari reject am, with the reason say na duplication of duty and money wey den go need to fund am.
On Wednesday, Dino Melaye, lawmaker wey dey represent Kogi west, raise point of order on the bill.
Relying on the senate rules, Melaye urge the upper legislative chamber say make den revisit the bill with a view to overpower Buhari if hin fail to change hin mind about the rejection of the bill.
“The same thing happen when dey wan establish Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); Na the same excuse the government give that time too.
“But today we don see the advantages of the civil defence and how they don help help safeguard the government infrastructure. If den give Peace Corps opportunity to exist, thousands of Naija people go dey employed and this go help fight unemployment for Naija.
The thing wey just need to happen na make the two chambers – the senate and the house of representatives – recall the bill and re-pass am. If den pass the bill in the form wey den send am to the president by two-third majority vote for both chambers, Peace Corps go automatically enter law even without Buhari signature.
